Is this mic on?

I was recently invited to give a lecture/workshop on nonprofits and social media to undergraduate students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. These students are working on a variety of music-based charities, facilitated by the university.

The workshop covers multiple concepts regarding nonprofits and social media, in particular how nonprofits can use social media to impact social change. Here are some of the topics I covered:

  • Identifying and defining five major social media platforms commonly used amongs nonprofits and charities
  • Identifying content types
  • Pairing content with those five channels (what content your nonprofit may already have and where to best post it)
  • Three tools of the trade to help you create, edit, and schedule content
  • Keeping your social media organized with a content calendar
  • Reporting your findings to better create targeted social media posts

Hope you enjoy!
